repairing duncan Kiln

My husband's got a bit of a problem with his Duncan kiln. I want to help him, so I thought it's a good idea to pop in here.

So, the lid has some pretty noticeable surface damage, with cracks and even some pieces that have broken off.
He thinks the band around the lid being loose when he bought it probably caused the erosion.

He's looking for any suggestions on repair procedures. Any ideas on how to fix that lid would be a huge help!

You can try kiln cement for small cracks or replace the lid if the damage is too severe. Try tightening the band after repairs, it may help prevent more issues.

I'd be concerned that firing with a damaged lid could lead to serious heat loss or uneven temperatures, which might affect his pieces or even stress the kiln itself over time
