Cracking and texture problems, plaster edition

I've been having some issues with plaster lately and was hoping to get some advice. I'm noticing cracks forming in my plaster molds, and sometimes the texture isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be. I've tried adjusting the water to plaster ratio, but no luck. Has anyone else had trouble with plaster holding up over time? will really appreciate tips on preventing cracking or achieving a smoother finish? Also, do you find certain brands or types of plaster work better for molds?

Cracking plaster can be a real head ache, reminds me of when I tried to make a bird bath and it fell apart faster than a cheap suit. Are you letting the plaster fully dry before handling the molds and what kind of plaster are you using?

For smoother results, consider using USG plaster of Paris or Hydrocal. Make sure to mix the materials slowly to prevent air bubbles from forming. While you're pouring, it helps to vibrate the molds and keep an eye on the humidity during the curing process. Remember, if you notice cracking, it usually means the mixture dried too quickly.
